मुख्य सचिव अनिल खाची ने आज शिमला में मुख्यमंत्री जय राम ठाकुर की उपस्थिति में देवेन्द्र कुमार शर्मा को हिमाचल प्रदेश विद्युत नियामक आयोग के अध्यक्ष के रूप में पद, गोपनीयता और भारतीय संविधान के प्रति कत्र्तव्यनिष्ठा की शपथ दिलाई।
देवेन्द्र कुमार शर्मा को भारत और विदेश के ऊर्जा और जल संसाधन क्षेत्रों में लगभग 39 वर्षों का अनुभव है। उन्होंने भारत सरकार के ऊर्जा मंत्रालय के भाखड़ा ब्यास प्रबन्धन बोर्ड के अध्यक्ष के रूप में अप्रैल, 2017 से जुलाई, 2020 तक अपनी सेवाएं दी हैं, जहां उन्होंने राष्ट्रीय महत्त्व की परिसंपत्तियों के प्रबन्धन का उत्तरदायित्व निभाया। उन्होंने उत्तरी राज्यों पंजाब, हरियाणा, राजस्थान, हिमाचल प्रदेश और केंद्र शासित चंडीगढ़ के लिए भाखड़ा ब्यास प्रबन्धन बोर्ड से बिजली की आपूर्ति और सिंचाई एवं पेयजल की आपूर्ति सुनिश्चित बनाने में भी महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई।
इससे पूर्व वह सितम्बर, 2012 से अप्रैल, 2017 तक हिमाचल ऊर्जा निगम लिमिटेड के महाप्रबन्धक के पद पर अपनी सेवाएं दे चुके हैं। उन्हें भारत में कारपोरेट क्षेत्र के साथ-साथ भूटान की टाला हाइड्रो इलैक्ट्रिक प्रोजेक्ट अथाॅरिटी में भी कार्य करने का अनुभव है। इसके अतिरिक्त उन्होंने सतलुज जल विद्युत निगम लिमिटेड और हिप्र राज्य ऊर्जा बोर्ड लिमिटेड में भी विभिन्न पदों पर कार्य किया है।
देवेन्द्र कुमार शर्मा को थाइलैंड, हंगरी और नार्वे में जलविद्युत क्षेत्र में विभिन्न पाठ्यक्रमों का अध्ययन करने के लिए यूनेस्को, नोराड (नार्वे सरकार) और नीदरलैंड सरकार से फेलोशिप भी प्राप्त हुई है। उन्होंने राष्ट्रीय पत्रिकाओं और सम्मेलनों में 39 तकनीकी दस्तावेज भी प्रकाशित किए हैं।
बहुद्देश्यीय परियोजनाएं एवं ऊर्जा मंत्री सुखराम चैधरी, मुख्यमंत्री के प्रधान सचिव जेसी शर्मा, ऊर्जा विभाग के विशेष सचिव हेमराज बैरवा और अन्य वरिष्ठ अधिकारी इस अवसर पर उपस्थित थे।
