हिमाचल प्रदेश के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री और कांग्रेस नेता वीरभद्र सिंह का 87 साल की उम्र में लंबी बीमारी से जूझने के बाद निधन हो गया। पूर्व सीएम के निधन की पुष्टि इंदिरा गांधी मेडिकल कॉलेज और अस्पताल (IGMC), शिमला के मेडिकल सुपरिटेंडेंट डॉ जनक राज ने की। इससे पहले सोमवार को हार्ट अटैक आने के बाद वीरभद्र सिंह को इंदिरा गांधी मेडिकल कॉलेज में भर्ती कराया गया था।आईसीयू में वेंटिलेटर सपोर्ट पर थे
अस्पताल में वीरभद्र सिंह की तबीयत लगातार बिगड़ती जा रही थी। इस वजह से उन्हें आईसीयू में शिफ्ट किया गया था। वीरभद्र सिंह यहां वेंटिलेटर सपोर्ट पर थे।इससे पहले IGMC के मेडिकल सुपरिटेंडेंट डॉ. जनक राज ने बुधवार को कहा था कि सिंह की हालत गंभीर है लेकिन वह स्थिर बनी हुई है।
छह बार प्रदेश के सीएम रहे सिंह का 23 अप्रैल से ही मेडिकल निगरानी में थे। उन्हें 13 अप्रैल को कोरोना होने की पुष्टि हुई थी। इसके बाद उन्हें मोहाली के मैक्स अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया था। 23 अप्रैल को अस्पताल से छुट्टी के बाद वे शिमला आ गए थे। यहां आने पर उन्हें फिर से सांस संबंधी दिक्कत शुरू हो गई। इसके बाद उन्हें फिर से आईजीएमसी में एडमिट कराया गया। उन्हें 11 जून को फिर से कोरोना संक्रमण हो गया। हालांकि, फिर वह इससे उबर चुके थे । नौ बार विधायक और 5 बार रहे सांसद
वीरभद्र सिंह नौ बार विधायक रहे। साथ ही वह पांच बार सांसद भी चुने गए। उन्होंने छह बार सीएम के रूप में राज्य की बागडोर भी संभाली। मौजूदा समय में वह सोलन जिले के अरकी से विधायक थे।
