अर्की विधानसभा क्षेत्र में उपचुनाव में कांग्रेस पार्टी से टिकट न मिलने से क्षुब्ध राजेंद्र ठाकुर इन दिनों पार्टी के अधिकृत प्रत्याशी संजय अवस्थी के विरोध में काम कर रहे थे जिसकी लगातार शिकायतें पार्टी आलाकमान को मिल रही थी । अब पूर्व सांसद और कांग्रेस पार्टी की प्रदेश अनुशासनात्मक समिति की अध्यक्ष विप्लव ठाकुर के निर्देश व ब्लॉक कांग्रेस कमेटी व पर्यवेक्षकों की शिकायत के बाद राजेंद्र सिंह ठाकुर को कांग्रेस प्रदेश अध्यक्ष कुलदीप सिंह राठौर ने बाहर का रास्ता दिखा दिया है । कांग्रेस पार्टी ने उन्हें पार्टी विरोधी गतिविधियों और अधिकृत प्रत्याशी के खिलाफ काम करने के लिए पार्टी से 6 साल के लिए निष्कासित कर दिया है । उपचुनाव में कांग्रेस और भाजपा दोनों प्रमुख दलों को बागी नेताओं की पार्टी विरोधी गतिविधियों से जूझना पड़ रहा है यही वजह रही कि जुब्बल कोटखाई से भाजपा नेता चेतन बरागटा को पार्टी से बाहर निकालने के बाद अब अर्की विधानसभा क्षेत्र से कांग्रेस ने भी बागी तेवर अपनाने वाले राजेंद्र ठाकुर पर अनुशासन का चाबुक चलाते हुए 6 साल के लिए पार्टी से बाहर कर दिया है ।
