In recognition of her extraordinary courage and tireless humanitarian service during the recent catastrophic floods in 2025. Sadhvi Amrita Ji of the Art of Living Foundation was bestowed as the Guest of Honour by the Government Pharmacy College, Seraj, at its National Seminar in Mandi.

Sadhvi Amrita Ji was formally recognized for her grueling three-month-long on-ground disaster response and trauma relief operation in the completely cut-off and severely devastated pockets of the Thunag “Seraj Valley.”

Overcoming the Odds on Foot

When catastrophic floods and landslides tore through District Mandi, essential infrastructure was obliterated, leaving multiple far-flung alpine villages entirely isolated from the rest of the state.

With roads entirely washed away, mobile networks down, and zero electricity, Sadhvi Amrita Ji traveled extensively on foot from July 9 through October. Risking her life daily, she trekked through treacherous terrains, navigated active landslide zones, and crossed swelling flood streams to deliver hope where no other individual or non-governmental organization (NGO) had yet reached.

Over the three-month period, she embedded herself within the disaster-struck communities, living alongside the victims in temporary trauma relief camps under pitch-black, disconnected conditions.

Healing Post-Disaster Trauma

Operating under the aegis of The Art of Living Foundation Himachal Pradesh, the mission prioritized mental and emotional rehabilitation alongside physical survival.

More than 1,000 flood survivors—including heavily impacted local families, school children, and frontline State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel—were accommodated across specialized meditation camps. The structured trauma-relief sessions focused specifically on reducing acute stress, paralyzing fear, and profound anxiety, helping survivors regain inner strength and emotional stability after losing their homes and livelihoods.

Speaking on her motivation, representatives noted she strictly followed the guiding words of Art of Living founder, Pujya Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji, who teaches: “When the house is on fire, you don’t sit and wait for an invitation; you jump into the situation and do whatever is possible.”

₹14 Lakh In Essential Aid Distributed

Simultaneously, the Art of Living chapters of Mandi and Kullu mobilized a massive logistics chain, distributing over ₹14 Lakh worth of targeted material relief directly to 275 worst-hit families.

Because grid electricity took upwards of two months to be restored to the valley, the organization strategically illuminated over 75 completely dark villages across Thunag, Chachyot, Dharmpur, and Bali Chowki by installing solar street lights and distributing portable solar lamps.
